Ex-Bears star Charles “Peanut” Tillman, who joined the FBI after his long NFL career, decided to quit working as an FBI agent after 7 years, claiming he refused orders from superiors over the agency's immigration crackdown (ICE)
Tillman said he felt the orders went beyond targeting dangerous criminals and was instead aimed at political quotas. For example, he recounted orders to stand guard while agents apprehended non-violent workers.
Tillman noted that the substantial fortune he earned during his 13-year NFL career gave him the freedom to walk away from a job he morally disagreed with, something very few other FBI agents can do even though they might want to.
