Bad Education

In an attempt to streamline the federal government, and as part of their “Drain the Swamp” agenda, the Trump administration has proposed merging the labor department and the department of education. “The sweeping reorganization proposal, which was formally unveiled during the president’s Cabinet meeting Thursday, is the result of an order signed by Trump in March 2017 calling for a review of the federal government aimed at identifying redundancies and streamlining agencies.” (NBC)

This would take our education department and align the goals of the education system to predominately be about supporting the workforce. Right now there are “more than 40 job training programs spread across 16 different Cabinet agencies.” (NBC) While this might sound good in theory as it’ll create very reliable workers and simplify the process of going through job training for adults, it creates a huge problem if we want to remain a free United States in the future for the youth of our nation.

One of the freedoms we have in our country is to choose what we want to do with our lives. If the school systems are structured in this way, this could place that freedom in jeopardy. Generalizing education so as only to benefit the workforce creates a society of mindless drones, killing off free thinking and creativity. The idea of killing off the creativity of the next generation of adults should terrify us all.

This is also a really good way for the enemies of freedom to start pushing their own agenda in the education system. If they kill off the encouragement of free thinking they can also program the minds of our children. Breeding in the idea that “dissent equals treason” will become common place.

“School is the advertising agency which makes you believe that you need the society as it is.”

– Ivan Illich

Again I tell all of our readers, that they should get out and vote this November. We need a balance back in our government that’s severely lacking right now and the only way that problem will get fixed is if we get out and vote more progressive people into positions of power.
